Question: What is a good time for running 3 miles (5km)?
Hi,
I did Sport Relief this weekend (a UK charity fun-run). I signed up several months ago and forgot about it. Consequently I did last minute fundraising and no training. By no training I mean that I didn’t alter my usual exercise regime towards running, being a vain male my exercise regime is more strength/weight gain focused. I normally run 1k as a warm-up and swim about the same as a cool down so I’m not used to running longer distances.
Is 20 minutes a good time for 3 miles based on the above.
With proper training 2/3 times a week for around three months before the event what would be a good time?
(I’m thinking of doing it again next year, although maybe I’ll do the 6mile course next time).
Thanks so far. There was two up hill sections and one downhill, and a mixture of road and grass (mud!) through which to run.
Answer: 21 minutes is the time allowed to run 3 miles to be allowed to start training with the Royal Marines (obviously along with passes of other tests); I think enough said there really.
A good runner would be faster, but you are not specifically a runner, you’re training for all round strength and fitnesss; so it a good time. Its certainly above average for the distance.
WIth proper training 18 mins should be realisticly expected.
