Question: childhood cancer group help?

ok so i am 15 years old. my aunt (RIP aunt trisha) 2 close friends (RIP gabby & michelle) my dads best friend (RIP jason) and my great grandmother (RIP granny) have all passed away with cancer. this really effected me and i wanted to do something about it so i have started a club called C.L.I.C.K it stands for caring and loving for ineed cancer kids. i felt like since i am young that i was more connected to children. also i felt they need alittle more attention and i wanted to be the one to do so. now, its really hard to do this one my own. as of right now we are trying to think of ways to “advertise” and get some members. any ideas? something easy and cheap. also any ideas on fundraising thats cheap? please help with any other ideas you might have,…. thanks =]

Answer: There are many childhood cancer groups online . . most are for specific cancer types. You might want to first take a look at these sites to see what is offered. Most childhood cancer websites involve the parents of children with cancer, but there are some sites which are for older children and teens:

Teens Living with cancer

http://www.teenslivingwithcancer.org/

2bme

http://www.2bme.org/2bMe.html

And children:
Kids Cancer Network

And, than there are foundations such as CureSearch which is a collaborative effort between parents, caregivers, and pediatric oncologists:

Fundraising Ideas For Sports Teams

Question: I want to start a local fundraising club called Sports for Aid but I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START! any help?

Hello, I am in 12th grade and I would like to start a fundraising club in my town of Tracy, California called Sports for Aid (SFA). The idea is that people come out and play sports and would pay to enter their teams into tournaments of different sports such as basketball and football. The money collected would go to an organization such as Red Cross or the local Boys and Girls Club. I have this idea and I have many people, especially students looking for community service hours for playing sports, that would participate but I have no idea where to start? Do I go to the city to ask them if I can start this up? Should I just make a website and have people sign up and I host the tournaments at the local park and would I need to inform the city for that as well? I have never done something like this before and anyone with experience can you please help me out?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Answer: I wouldnt charge teams directly, but I would suggest that all teams are aware they need sponsorship money to enter say $50 per team, there are no cash prizes but winners get commemorative medals or something..also send out fliers and hire a field or b-ball court to play in, invite crowds to watch and have people walk around with donation buckets to give more money too….aside from the main sports attractions you could set up fun stalls, such as bake sales and the likes…all donated of course

good luck hope you get it started
