Fundraising Phone Calls

fundraising phone calls
Question: How do I deal with this woman?

She is being nasty to me and saying that I don’t volunteer enough of my time to a fundraising organization that I am a member of. She is the president of the organization. I put a lot of time into helping with the secretarial end of things, but she is mad because I won’t help with making phone calls to help find workers for fundraisers, and I can’t help at the fundraisers. I’ve told her that I can’t help with the phone calls because I live in another town and the calls are long distance for me, and I haven’t been able to work at the fundraisers because I have a full time job PLUS help my husband run his business. I can’t afford to take time off work to do volunteer work. My husband suggested that I just quit the organization altogether since it’s causing stress and I get nothing out of it. I don’t want to quit because I don’t know who would take over the duties that I currently do, and I do enjoy helping in the ways that I can. She is treating other members the same way.

Answer: I agree with your husband. Maybe she’ll learn her lesson about being so rude if people volunteer their time elsewhere.

if you want to stay, tell her you’re doing all you can and if she finds that unacceptable, then she needs to find a replacement for you.

Fundraising For Kids With Cancer

fundraising for kids with cancer
Question: Could a 13 year old start a fundraiser?

I am 13 and I LOVE kids and I just feel like I’m meant to do something to help these kids that are deathly ill. I just feel like it’s the right thing to do!
I know there is all kinds of websites and organizations where you could give money to, but could I make my own? Like maybe LCKF (Lindsey’s Cancer Kids Foundation) and maybe I could have bake sales or even start up fundraising in local schools including my own, or have jars at cash registers for loose change.
I’d love to do this! With all the money I would buy lots of toys, get better balloons, and I would buy tons of colored paper and make cards for the kids!
I’d love to do this! Is there any way I could?

Also, could you give me ideas on how to raise some money? I know there is babysitting, lawn mowing, etc. but could you give me some unique ideas or maybe some websites (no scams, just websites for teens with ideas on how to raise money)

THANKS SO MUCH!

Answer: I believe the youngest fundraiser ever was a 9 year old. There really is no age limit to start, as long as you have sound advice from adults who understand how these things work. it can be a lot of work behind the scenes you are not aware of.

But I give you kudos for thinking outside the box. Try asking at school you school counselor if there are any programs in your area to help youngsters get involved in fund raising or youth programs.
