Fundraising Quiz Ideas

Question: Fundraising and organisation ideas please (reposted)
I am planning to organise a fundraising event for a meaningful charity, i was planning to arrange a skydive but i couldnt get definate answers on willing participants. So I think something more community orientated would be better.
I would appreciate ideas on how to go about organising something, what time scale i should consider, and what legal matters i may come up against. I am thinking along the lines of a sponsored village trek, where people take their bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, or even walk or run, around the village and get sponsored for doing so. Either this or a quiz night, but i want to raise as much as possible, which is where i think the sponsored event would be better. Any ideas/tips are much appreciated!! Thank you.
Answer: I organized a Bowl-A-Thon for United Way and it was great cause all ages could participate, adults and kids both love it

Fundraising Sign Ideas

Question: I just signed up with Team in Training to run in my first marathon in June.?
Does anyone have any good ideas to help with the fundraising part of it? My goal is $3,000 so any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
Answer: start early!
i signed up for team in training and unfortunately was not able to raise enough money to run.
it was really upsetting and really embarrsing since i had raised over 2000 and my friends and family had all expected me to race.
a member of my team in training unit made ice packs covered in cloth for the runners who ran in the summer and she sold them to our team.
other ideas:
bake sale
baby sitting
if your a good cook you could make dinner for families
if you have a random talent use that to make some extra money
