Fundraising Silent Auction

Question: Help with a silent auction?

My area is saturated with silent auctions but the Fundraising Committee I belong to would like to still have one as the prior year it was fairly successful. However, I am looking for ideas that would make it unique and memorable.

Answer: Post them all on ebay!
Give out flyers letting everyone know to go bid.

It saves time, adds fun, is diferent, and has a bigger audience for more exposer! Be sure to mention it’s for your cause.
Ebay has a special section to list things with a cause for extra attention.

Good luck!

Question: Does anyone have an example of an letter they have written for requests for silent auction items?

I am in charge of getting silent auction items for a charity event. I have never written a letter like that before so I need help. Also if anyone knows of any free websites that might have examples of fundraising letters.

Answer: Request is done on the nonprofit organizations letterhead. You also include the org. tax exempt number.

We respectfully request donations to assist us in our efforts.
Donated items may be sent to: Org., address, C/O your name.
Thank you for your consideration.

Organiztion

Be forwarned these letters of request should be sent at least 6 months prior to your fundraiser. Just did a quilt show. Wrote to 60 manufacturers of quilting tools and sundry items. Received donations from 50. Make sure a thank you note goes out immediately.
