Fundraising Boxes

Question: Fundraising question/ Is this illegal….?
I want to raise money for things like aspca or just keep the money. these Fundraising Companies have like a minimum buy of like 8 boxes! i dont want that much! can i just buy a big box of like assorted Hershey’s or something and sell the chocolate bars? Is that illegal?
Answer: you can go to Sams or Costco and (I know at sams they do, I would assume costco does as well) they should have a box called the fundraiser box in the candy section. It is like $20 and comes with a variety of bars. You can sell those and do whatever you want (or buy the separate boxes or individual bars at a grocery store). If you claim you are raising money for a cause you should give some money to that cause, but there is little probability anyone would check. It is fraud if you don’t, but you have to get caught. Just don’t specify how much you are giving and give them a little (a dollar or 50 cents) and you are legally fine. It is not morally correct, but you didn’t ask about the morals. For a small scale like that, you are fine for a larger scale like red cross you just have to make the disclaimer of after administrative fees we use the donations to help…
