Question: Looking to start a new high school club?
I’m a high school senior and looking to start a new club at our school; one that will involve community service or fundraising and contribute to a local and/or world need. Organizations that I’ve heard of are Invisible Children and Save Darfur. What other non profit organizations are there that a student club can help?
Answer: In our community we have food banks and a large Community Garden. Each month high school groups volunteer to help in the garden and sometimes work at the food banks. You would need to get an adult sponsor at your school who would be your contact in the community. The adult can get with the charitable group organizers and set up scheduling.
Often, volunteering in your own community can be more rewarding as you can have a direct impact on your neighbors who need help.
