Fundraising Party Ideas

fundraising party ideas
Question: HALLOWEEN, Ideas for party games for children aged 1 year – 8 years?

We’re having a big fundraising event in the way of a halloween party, we have sold about 60 tickets, and we’re looking for ideas for various stalls to cater all ages. we’re in the uk.

Answer: ****Guess the Pumpkin’s weight****
–Let children write their estimates of the pumpkin’s weight on slip of paper. Kids write their names on the paper, fold them, and place in a box. At the end of the party, weigh the pumpkin and award a prize to the child with the closest guess. (Bring enough prizes for ties.)

****Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin****
Preparation:

Draw a large pumpkin shape on the foamboard. Paint it orange. Paint a green stem. Paint black pumpkin eyes and mouth. Outline the pumpkin with the black marker.

Cut out pumpkin noses from the black construction paper. Place a white sticker on one side. (This will also be the side that you use to place the rolled-up tape so that it will stick to the poster. Before the child takes a turn, a helper should write the child’s initials on the sticker and place the tape on the nose.)

Game Play:

Play just as you would play Pin the Tail on the Donkey of course! When the noses are all placed, remove the closest one(s) and see whose initials are on the back. Or, play in groups of 5 and award a winner before removing those from the pumpkin and going to the next group.

***Fishing for Halloween Goodies**

Have a wall that has a scene on it..maybe a creepy ocean. Have a stick with a string on it. Have the kid toss the string over the wall and someone on the other side will attach a piece of candy or something then the kid can pull it back over to find a prize!

***Pumpkin Bowling***

You need 6-10 empty plastic 2-liter bottles and a pumpkin (prob. use small pumpkins). All you do is set the bottles up and take turns rolling the pumpkin into them.

***Other Games***

–Bobbing for apples
–Halloween Pinata

Fundraising Definition

Question: What are some basic definitions and principles of nonprofit fundraising?

Answer: This is a tough question! I will give you some basic definitions and then offer some more resources. First, a big question is the type of nonprofit you are. If you’re a recent startup, you’re more likely to get money from individual donors (rich or generous people who give you cash directly) rather than from foundations (large organizations that give away money). The reason is that foundations often have a much more formal process and require very detailed forms, budgets, etc.; your rich friend might just give you money because he likes you or your idea(s). Another distinction is between money that is program-specific (say, to run a book exchange for low-income kids) vs. general or operational (where you can use money for anything at all). Typically, nonprofits like the latter because it can be used for marketing, salaries, administration, supplies, etc., while the former cannot. Do you have a board of directors? Often they will have connections to donors, etc. Do you have professional fundraising staff? They are often best at the technical aspects of writing a grant.
