Fundraising Blankets

Question: Where could I find big boxes to use as donation boxes for blankets, sheets, and toys?

I am collecting new and gently used blankets, sheets, & toys for a care package to send to troops in iraq and then toys are for hospitalized children in iraq. What type of businesses would have good bib boxes that i could get for free? Also any tips on Fundraising Ideas are appreciated.

Answer: Check international shipping rates on different size packages and choose box size accordingly and phone your local grocery stores and have them save boxes in that size range. You could also try and see if businesses will donate boxes to help the cause. Keep up the great work.

Question: Best way to start a career with a nonprofit group?

I have a degree in Business Administration and a Master degree in Business Information Systems. I am looking to make a change into fundraising for a nonprofit. I don’t really have any direct experience in fundraising and looking for advice how to transition into this new field. Specifically I am looking to start with a group in the Kansas City area.

Thanks.

Answer: One approach would be to get experience in nonprofit fundraising as a volunteer. This would let you build up directly relevant experience that will make you more appealing to potential employers. It will also give you the opportunity to meet people employed in the field, which could help your job search.
