Question: What are some companies to write to seeking donations for a non-profit organization?

I belong to a non-profit that is in need of raising some donations or risk being disbanded. The usual Fundraising Tactics of selling and serving are being done around the local area but our community is very small with many other orgs also seeking fundraising. What are some companies that will accept letters requesting small donations to help keep our organization afloat? Where can I go for resources to such things? Never done this before so I need all the help I can get. Thanks

Answer: my wife tried doing a non profit a few years ago. sent out tons of letters to big companies and got a few responses. most of them saying they only help businesses in their area. office max or office depot (forget which one) was the only one to respond with a donation. she got a total of $250 in gift cards that went towards office supplies.

as far as cash donations to pay for your fees for starting the business… not sure but deffinately try local companies.
