Question: What is my life purpose?
Any tips on how I can figure out what I truly want out of life? First on how I can know what career I truly want to go for. I want to be involved in helping people, like fundraising, helping out charities, going around the world. I’m also into blogging, photography, and art. Also on how to eat healthy, and stay healthy. Also on how to be happy and confident? Be happy with who I am, not care what others think, and do things without being afraid to go for it?
Answer: After many years, I have returned to a childhood understanding of my life which serves me now and when I really think about it, has served me my entire life, even when I didn;t realize it. I believe that my (our) purpose in life is to know, love and serve God in this life and to be with Him/Her forever in the next. When I live in union with that belief I just seem to choose the right things for myself, (wife, career, recreation, etc.). Just being very sincere from a very subjective experience. God Love You!

Fundraising How To Do It

Question: Can somebody please help me with Relay for Life fundraising?
OK…I don’t know what I got myself into. The school that I work at needed a team captain for our Relay For Life team; I volunteered to be the team captain. Out of 600 students, I would say about 100 will participate in this event. We need to raise a lot of money, but I don’t know how. I know the basic Fundraising Ideas (car wash, bake sale, etc). What I need to know is how do I get businesses to donate and support our team. When we go to talk to them is their a paper they need to fill out? Do we just ask for a donation to support our relay for life team? Does anyone know if at the Relay For Life event we can wear something that has a company logo on it for a business sponsorship? The theme is curing cancer coast to coast and our state is Pennsylvania, I was thinking maybe we can do liberty bells and on one side have our goal is to be cancer free, then on the other side have a business coupon or advertisement, then sell the liberty bells for $1-$2 each. Is that a good idea?
Answer: This is always a tough question. Depending on if the school will let you “gamble” we always had the best luck with the 50/50 drawings. Basically you can sell “tickets” for like a dollar each, and you make a time period that you will run your drawing, and when it’s over you draw a name (ticket) and that person gets half of the money in the pot and your team gets the rest. All it takes is for somebody to make tickets, pretty much effortless. (My school wouldn’t allow it though b/c they thought it was gambling…but at work we did one, and we made a bunch of money.) As for the business thing, good luck! We had to jump right on it! They usually don’t up and give you a donation. You have to “dig” for it. We always went in and told them why we do Relay. (ie, most of the people I work with, including myself, we have had a lot of friends/family die b/c of cancer) It was like a plea for money, but we told them the truth about our situations, and then they feel like you’re a decent source to give a donation to. But, if they do make a donation, make SURE to thank them! (Like at your “site” on Relay night put something on a banner/poster saying thank you to our sponsors, and take a picture of you and your team in front of the sign/poster and give it to them to show them your thanks. So, I hope this helps. The 50/50 thing goes over well with teenagers, they are always needing some extra cash, and like I said, it’s easy money for you!
